About HPNLU
The Himachal Pradesh National Law University(HPNLU) Shimla, was established by the State Government in the year 2016, by an Act of the Legislature (Act 16 of 2016).
The University started functioning from October 5, 2016. The University inducts students through Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for its Under-graduate (UG) programme, which includes B.A.LL.B. and B.B.A.LL.B.-Hons. (Five-Year Integrated Course) and the Post-graduate(PG) programme for one-year LL.M.
The PG programme provides four specializations viz, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law & Forensic Studies, Business Law and Intellectual Property Rights. The University also offers Doctor of Philosophy(Ph.D.) and Post-Doctorate Programmes (LL.D.) in Law.
About the Position
Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for engagement as Research Associates of Law (purely on a contractual basis with a consolidated salary) at the Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, through an Online application form available on the University’s official website link given at the end go the post.
How to Apply?
The application may be submitted by registering on the ERP Portal of HPNLU, Shimla. No offline Application will be accepted. The candidates must read the instructions carefully to fill out the Online Application Form. Application fee is Rs. 3K.
Number of Positions
Total – 10 (UR – 7; SC – 1; OBC – 1; EWS – 1). Reservations are for the State of Himachal Pradesh.
Salary
Rs. 50,000 per month.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications, Experience and other eligibility conditions shall be the same as those of an Assistant Professor as per the norms prescribed by the UGC Regulations, 2018.
General Instructions
-
- The applicant shall fill in their complete and correct particulars in the Online Application Form to avoid rejection of candidature. Without prejudice to HPNLU Shimla Executive and Service Regulations, 2020 (as amended from time to time) or any other law in force in this regard, (a) an applicant must not be engaged, or appointed elsewhere on salary/honorarium payment basis; or (b) an applicant should not have been involved in any criminal case, whether pending or convicted, for an offence involving moral turpitude; or (c) an applicant must not be facing any disciplinary proceeding before the Bar Council of India, Bar Council of the State or Institutes or any other authority.
- The contractual engagement shall not confer any right/claim for regular appointment or continuance beyond the period of engagement. It is clarified that the selected candidates shall be required to serve the University full-time; however, in no case shall such an appointment be treated as a regular appointment.
- A Research Associate of Law intending to leave by resignation or otherwise before expiry of the term of contract shall be required to give prior notice of at least one month to the Office of the Vice Chancellor.
- Subject to the applicable Regulations, the period of the contract initially will be for one Semester, which may be extended by the appropriate authority. Selected candidates shall be required to join the University within the period specified in their respective joining orders. Ordinarily, no request for extension of joining time will be entertained.
- The terms and conditions of eligibility, appointments and services shall be governed by the relevant Regulations/ Rules of the University. The date for determining eligibility of all applicants in respect of Essential Qualifications) and Experience, if any, etc., shall be determined according to the prescribed closing date for submission of the Online Application Form.
- Applicants must upload a valid experience certificate (if applicable), clearly specifying the duration of service, pay scale and gross salary drawn etc. The soft copies of publications including cover page, copyright, ISSN/ISBN No., author page, etc., claimed by the candidate, are required to be submitted through the Online Application Form.
- No other mode except online payment (through the ‘payment gateway’ prescribed and available on the recruitment portal of the University, i.e. ERP Portal) is acceptable for deposit of fees.
- The applicants are advised to note down the USER ID and PASSWORD, and this user ID and password will be applicable for all future references.
- The applicants are advised to give their working mobile number and email ID, used by them in the Online Application Form, and ensure that it is working till the completion of the selection process to avoid any inconvenience. The candidates must regularly check the website and email for any further information regarding this advertisement.
- The University reserves the right to revise/reschedule/cancel/suspend/withdraw the recruitment process in part or in full without assigning any reason. The decision of the University shall be final, and no appeal in this regard shall be entertained.
- The posts advertised are tentative. The University reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of posts. The University reserves the right not to fill the advertised vacancy if circumstances so warrant.
- The University reserves the right to change any other terms of the advertisement or to rectify any inadvertent errors at any stage. In case of any dispute, suits or legal proceedings, the territorial jurisdiction shall be restricted to the Hon’ble High Court of Himachal Pradesh and the District Courts at Shimla only.
- The interview will be conducted on June 20, 2026, through hybrid mode, and all eligible applicants will be invited / an online link that will be shared separately via email.
- No TA/DA shall be admissible.
