About the Organisation
The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) was established in 1987 and is a premier institution for legal excellence in India. The University has remained the undoubted leader in legal education and research in India and has been ranked first among Law Universities in the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s National Institute Ranking Framework for the last eight years.
NLSIU along with the Department of Revenue, Government of India, has established the Department of Revenue (DOR) to recognize scholars and teachers in the field of taxation law, anti-corruption, and foreign exchange regulation, with the aim of producing high quality research, strengthening pedagogy, engaging in public policy dialogue and attracting world class researchers and academicians to the University.
Role Description
- Name of Post: Department of Revenue Chair in the level of Assistant Professor (Law)
- Vacancies: 1 (Unreserved)
- Structure: Level 10 as per VII CPC
- Appointment: On a contract basis for a period of five years, and extendable at the discretion of the University
Eligibility
- A Master‘s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed).
- A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and master’s level for the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Differently abled categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing
good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions. - A relaxation of 5% may be provided to the Ph. D Degree holders, who obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19 September 1991.
- The eligibility marks of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale prescribed by these regulations and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures.
Roles & Responsibilities
The DOR Chair Assistant Professor is expected to perform the following functions:
- Contribute to teaching, research, and scholarship in taxation laws at the University;
- Conduct training and capacity building programmes including for DOR officials as required;
- Provide legal opinion and analysis on related laws to DOR officials as required;
- Render active support in all related topics as mutually agreed to with the primary objective of enhancing the knowledge and professional skills of DoR executives in their respective areas on a sustained basis.
