Maharashtra, Mumbai – April 24, 2024: Today marked a significant milestone for the development of MSMEs in Maharashtra as the Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Ltd. (MSSIDC) (A Govt. of Maharashtra Enterprise) and Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai (MNLU Mumbai) came together to sign a flagship Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Represented by its Joint Managing Director, Smt. Farogh Mukadam, MSSIDC entered into this significant agreement with Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey, Vice Chancellor, MNLU Mumbai. The purpose of this MoU is to conduct Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Workshops across all 36 districts of Maharashtra. The MoU will also play an important role to give leverage to Geographical Indications of Maharashtra’s own products.
In light of this collaboration, Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey expressed his gratitude to Shri Rajendra Nimbalkar, IAS, the Managing Director of MSSIDC and emphasized that this joint effort would foster innovation, encourage ideation, and facilitate the incubation of new businesses and entrepreneurship ventures across Maharashtra.
Smt. Farogh Mukadam, while underscoring the importance of the collaboration, reiterated the shared vision of both organizations to empower MSMEs with the necessary knowledge and tools to navigate the intricacies of intellectual property rights. She emphasized that IPRs are crucial for the growth and sustainability of small-scale industries, which form the backbone of Maharashtra’s economy.
The event was in attendance of Dr. Pratapsinh B. Salunke, Registrar I/c, and Sajid Sheikh, Assistant Professor & Coordinator, Centre for Research in IP, representing MNLU Mumbai, along with Mr. V. D. Kapate, General Manager, MSSIDC and others.
