The main selection criteria
The main criteria for innovator community membership and award nomination is the uniqueness of the innovation, considering the local context. It should be clear what is new, what is different and what is the comparative advantage compared to services that are already available. In addition, the following criteria will help HiiL determine the nominations:
Scalability of the innovation. Is there potential for scaling-up (including cross border)?
Sustainability of the innovation. Can the financial sustainability of the innovation be secured?
Voting process and winner selection
First, an online voting round will decide the Top 3 entries based on the collected number of online votes.
Second, the winners of the previous Award’s rounds will hand out their wild cards to three additional entries. These entries are selected from the remaining nominations. This way, the remaining nominees get another chance to reach the Top 3 finalists.
A professional jury will decide on the final Top 3 finalists and will select the winner.
The Top 3 finalists for every category will be invited to the Innovating Justice Forum event on 25th and 26th November 2014 in The Hague, the Netherlands to receive recognition as world class innovators and, through the network, access to partnership, scale-up and funding opportunities.
They will get professional support to understand current strengths, improve their pitch and get the chance to boost their project with the help of event participants. In addition, the winner of the HiiL Innovating Justice Award – Innovative Idea will benefit from a cash investment of EUR 20 000 to take their innovative idea to the next level.
