CLAT-2014-LL-Size

If you really want to be a part of the premier law universities of the Country, target the CLAT! Trust me, it’s not very difficult!   The first thing you should know is the pattern of the CLAT.

The paper is divided into 5 parts.

1. English: This section comprises of 40 marks. Questions may be based on vocabulary, grammar and comprehension. English may be a cakewalk sometimes or it could be very advanced so as to become a decisive factor for rankings. English section of CLAT is very lengthy and requires time management. Do not ponder over the questions.

2. General Knowledge and Current Affairs: Knowledge of current affairs is a must. This requires reading of a daily newspaper and information on world affairs. Sometimes questions could be based on Filmfare! So, don’t leave any stone unturned!! Static GK is also very important. Therefore, you should have an idea about the freedom struggle, Constituent Assembly, various commissions and most importantly, the Indian Constitution itself with important Articles on your fingers. If you think you are good at GK, start with this section and try to finish it in 10 minutes. However, if you think you are not that great at GK, you might just get back to the section after completing all the other sections. Leave atleast 10 mins for this section.

3. Mathematics: Mathematics is definitely the easiest section of the CLAT paper. Its basic arithematic which you would have studied before Class 10th. The section comprises 20 marks. Those who have loved maths can crack it effortlessly whereas those who have a maths phobia could also easily crack it with more and more practice. The only thing you need to remember is that you cannot spend more than 10-15 minutes for solving this section. Questions would be generally on the cost price-sale price, profit-loss, percentage, time and work etc.

4. Legal Aptitude: This section holds a weightage of 50 marks, i.e. 25% of the paper. Questions are based on a legal proposition which is given in the paper itself. If you have a prior knowledge relating to that principle, IGNORE and FORGET it. Just construe the principle as it is, even if it sounds absurd or impractical. The section is not to check your knowledge of law but only to test how well you interpret and apply the law in given situations or circumstances. Again, Time management is very important for this section.

5. Logical reasoning: Logical reasoning comprises the maximum weightage like the Legal aptitude section, i.e. 50 marks. The questions are to test simple logic and reasoning ability of the students. They may be based on sequences, series, blood relations, directions etc. We have seen assertion-reasoning pattern questions in the question paper which might eat up some of your time. Make it a point to solve these questions without using pen and a paper. This will surely help you increase your speed.
