The Centre for Women and Law (CWL), NLUO, in collaboration with and sponsored by the NHRC, invites submissions for a one‑day seminar titled “Inclusive Higher Education as a Human Right: Addressing Gender, Age and Intersectional Inequalities in Indian Universities”.

Themes & Sub‑themes
The seminar will explore how higher education must be seen and operationalised as a human right—going beyond access to include retention, participation and equality. Some of the sub‑themes include:

Reframing higher education as a human right and its significance for equality and justice.

Gendered and age‑based barriers in access and retention—especially women, older learners, caregivers, gender‑diverse students.

Institutionalising inclusion: how campus structures, policies (such as UGC guidelines, POSH, etc) can be made effective.
-
Comparative/global perspectives: looking beyond India, especially from the Global South and other jurisdictions.
-
Voices from the margins: lived experiences of marginalized students and intersectional challenges in higher education.

Include a cover letter with your name, institution, designation, email and contact number.

Abstract: upto 250 words; then full paper in same document.

Length of paper: 4,000 to 5,000 words (excluding footnotes).

Citation style: Bluebook 20th/21st edition.

Plagiarism limit: 10%. A Turnitin report is required. Use of AI tools is strictly prohibited.
