About SIBRL
The Society for Insolvency, Bankruptcy and Restructuring Laws (SIBRL), NUJS, is a student-led academic initiative focused on fostering greater engagement with the evolving field of insolvency, bankruptcy, and restructuring laws.
The Society seeks to create a platform for discussion and exchange between students, academics, practitioners, and other stakeholders through its publications, events, and other academic initiatives. It aims to encourage meaningful engagement with both established principles and emerging questions in insolvency law, particularly in the context of India’s rapidly developing insolvency ecosystem.
Call for Submissions
With the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (IBC), having completed a decade since its enactment, India’s insolvency regime has undergone substantial transformation. Legislative amendments, regulatory interventions, judicial decisions, and developments in practice have continuously shaped the manner in which the Code operates and the objectives it seeks to achieve.
Against this backdrop, SIBRL invites submissions on contemporary issues in insolvency, bankruptcy, and restructuring law.
The call is not restricted to the theme of ten years of the IBC. Contributors may explore any contemporary issue relating to the IBC and the broader insolvency and restructuring framework.
We particularly welcome pieces that examine current developments in light of the experience accumulated over the past decade, critically assess the existing framework, or consider the way forward for Indian insolvency law.
Possible broad areas of engagement include, but are not limited to:
- Recent judicial, legislative, and regulatory developments under the IBC;
- Emerging or unsettled questions in insolvency jurisprudence;
- The evolution of the IBC over its first decade and the lessons emerging from its implementation;
- Persistent challenges in the corporate insolvency resolution process and liquidation;
- The effectiveness of the IBC in achieving its broader objectives;
- Developments in cross-border insolvency and restructuring;
- Sector-specific issues and challenges in insolvency resolution;
- The role and responsibilities of creditors, resolution applicants, promoters, and insolvency professionals;
- Insolvency financing, distressed assets, and restructuring;
- Intersections between insolvency law and other areas of corporate and commercial law;
- Comparative and international developments relevant to India; and
- Potential reforms and the future trajectory of India’s insolvency framework.
These are only indicative areas, and submissions on other contemporary and significant issues relating to the IBC, insolvency, bankruptcy, or restructuring are equally welcome.
SIBRL particularly encourages submissions that go beyond a descriptive account of the law and offer original, critical and accessible analysis of ongoing developments and debates.
Who Can Submit?
Submissions are invited from students, researchers, academics, legal practitioners, insolvency professionals, and others interested in insolvency, bankruptcy, and restructuring law.
Submission Guidelines
Authors are requested to consult the SIBRL Submission Policy for detailed requirements regarding word limit, formatting, citations, authorship, and other submission-related requirements.

- Co-authorship is allowed up to two authors per blog.
- Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis, and there is no fixed deadline.
