About the Programme
It is a 1-year professional programme at the WTO Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, created for young professionals from WTO member countries that have low or no professional representation in the WTO Secretariat.
The aim is to help candidates gain practical exposure to international trade law, policy, dispute settlement, and global governance while improving diversity in WTO representation.
Eligibility Criteria
Age
You must be 32 years or younger as of 1 January 2027.
Education
You need an advanced university degree in fields like:
- Law
- Economics
- Econometrics
- International Relations
- Environment Studies
- International Investment Law
- Trade and Gender
- Other trade-related subjects relevant to WTO work
Work Experience
Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience is required.
Language
- Fluency in English is compulsory
- Knowledge of French or Spanish is an added advantage

Applicants can choose up to 3 preferred areas of WTO work, such as:
