CLAT 2026: Conduct Report & Key Highlights

On 7 December 2025, the Consortium of National Law Universities successfully conducted CLAT 2026 across the country, marking a significant milestone in India’s legal‑entrance education.

Scale & Participation

  • The exam was held across 156 centres spanning 25 states, 93 cities and 4 Union Territories.

  • A total of 92,344 candidates registered — an increase of about 17% compared to the previous cycle.

  • Applicants included 75,009 for undergraduate (UG) programmes and 17,335 for postgraduate (PG) programmes.

  • The gender ratio among applicants stood at approximately 0.72 male: 1 female.

  • Among them, 548 candidates belonged to the PwD category. The Consortium appointed a dedicated nodal officer and ensured reasonable accommodations for these candidates.

Attendance and Smooth Execution

  • The turnout was high: 96.83% of UG registrants and 92.45% of PG registrants appeared for the exam, indicating strong participation.

  • The Consortium credited the smooth conduct and fairness of the exam to the combined efforts of centre superintendents, invigilators, district administrations, participating institutions, and law‑enforcement agencies.

  • Through these efforts, the CLAT 2026 was completed across the country without major disruptions — affirming the Consortium’s commitment to transparent and efficient exam administration.

What Happens Next: Answer Key, Objections & Results

  • The provisional answer key for CLAT 2026 will be released on 10 December 2025 at 5:00 PM.

  • Candidates will have the opportunity to raise objections via a designated portal from 10–12 December 2025.

  • Once the objection window closes and all responses are reviewed, the final answer key will be prepared; shortly thereafter, the results and seat‑allocation process will begin.

⚠️ About Rumours of a Paper Leak

In the hours following the exam, a few YouTube videos and social-media posts began circulating with claims that the CLAT 2026 question paper had been leaked. These videos mostly rely on speculation, cropped screenshots, or vague assertions without any credible verification.

The Consortium of National Law Universities has not confirmed any such incident, and there is no official indication that the integrity of the exam was compromised. The exam has been conducted as per standard procedures.

We advise readers not to trust rumours or screenshots claiming “leaks” since many such messages are unsubstantiated and may even be attempts at misinformation or profiteering.
