Job Opportunity: Research Position – Criminal Justice Projects @ NLSIU Bangalore

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru is inviting applications for a full-time Research position to work on cutting-edge criminal justice research projects. This role is contractual for one year and offers an attractive monthly compensation.
What You’ll Be Working On
You’ll assist faculty in empirical legal research focused on criminal justice, including:

Using public legal data to study judicial processes and decision-making.

Applying natural language processing tools to mine data from judgments and orders.

Investigating sentencing patterns, bail decisions, undertrial incarceration, and disparities across regions and social groups.

Supporting the development of a public legal database and open data portal.

Conducting desk and field research, preparing reports, and collaborating with the research team.
Who Can Apply
✔ LL.B or Master’s degree in a relevant field
✔ Training/experience in coding and analysing large government datasets
✔ 0–5 years of work experience with demonstrated research and writing ability
✔ Empirical research experience and coding/statistics background is a plus.
