The Indian Society of Victimology (ISV) and NLU Delhi (NLUD) Under the auspices of K.L.Arora Chair in Criminal Law will be organizing the 4th International & 8th Biennial Conference on Victimology at NLU, Delhi campus from 17-19 August, 2013 succeeding the conclusion of the 13th Asian Postgraduate Course on Victimology.

ABOUT:

This informative and exciting course provides an opportunity for postgraduates and professionals to learn about Victimology and Victim Assistance in a compact two weeks course from renowned international victimologists and victim assistance experts.  Previously, eleven courses were held in Mito, Japan and one course at Jakarta, Indonesia.  In the past courses we had students from Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, New Zealand, Philippines, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, USA and Vietnam. We are looking forward to hosting a maximum of 45 participants who will take advantage of this unique opportunity and learn from international experts from India and abroad.

COURSE OUTLINE:

All classes will be conducted in English. The classes will be tentatively from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Special events will include: a reception party, some institutional visits and a whole day trip to Taj Mahal at Agra (voluntary), a farewell party and a graduation ceremony. All selected students must attend the full two weeks course. Details (below) will be explained on the first day of the course (August 5).

ELIGIBILITY:

The Asian Post Graduate course is designed mostly for persons with a Bachelor’s degree interested in Victimology/victims and persons currently engaged in victim advocacy, victim services or any other work with victims: social welfare, counseling, community policing etc. However, if we have space, we would accept persons who are in their last year of undergraduate studies. This course will provide a comprehensive curriculum of topics so that students will acquire the basic concepts, history, theories and current issues of victimology as well as models and practices of victim services.

REQUIREMENT TO GET WSV CERTIFICATE:

To qualify and receive the WSV Certificate of Completion for the Asian Post Graduate Course, all students must: (1) Attend all the lectures provided and the field trips (2) If students miss any lecture because of illness or other valid emergencies, they must submit a one page report on each lecture they missed (3) Students are required to prepare a 15 minute presentation of a proposal for a victim services project chosen by the student based on his/her interest approved by one of the course directors. All students must attend all student presentations which will be made at the end of the course (15-16 August). (4) Students are also required to submit a typed paper of their project by 15 August (size 12 font, Times New Roman, double spaced, 5 pages).

ACCOMMODATION:

NLU Delhi Campus @ Rs.500 per day per participant and for full course its Rs.6000.

Students- Rs.10000
