The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is inviting applications for the position of Senior Research Associate under a high-impact, government-supported project aimed at strengthening women’s safety and legal awareness at the grassroots level.

About the Project
The position is part of the initiative:
“Freedom from Violence: Capacity Building of Elected Women Representatives”
- Funded by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj under the Nirbhaya Fund
- Focuses on empowering elected women representatives (EWRs) in rural governance
- Aims to strengthen their capacity to respond to violence, discrimination, and legal challenges
This means your work will directly contribute to improving local governance and gender justice mechanisms across India.
Key Responsibilities
This is not a desk-only research role. It blends policy, research, and execution:
- Conduct in-depth legal and socio-legal research on issues like:
- Gender-based violence
- Criminal law reforms
- POCSO and related frameworks
- Design training modules & toolkits for grassroots stakeholders
- Develop legal awareness content (digital + print)
- Supervise junior researchers and coordinate outputs
- Engage in report writing, policy briefs, and documentation
- Contribute to capacity-building workshops and outreach efforts
Eligibility Criteria
Essential:
- Master’s degree in Law / Social Sciences / Public Policy / related field
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in research, policy, or related domains
Preferred Profile:
- Prior work in gender justice, criminal law, or legal empowerment projects
- Experience in field-based or empirical research
- Strong writing, analytical, and coordination skills
- Publications, reports, or policy contributions will be an added advantage
Nature of Work
- Full-time, on-site role in Bengaluru
- Contractual for 1 year (extendable based on performance/project needs)
- Collaborative work environment with academics, policy experts, and field practitioners
Remuneration
- ₹80,000 – ₹1,00,000 per month
