IBA Chair on Continuing Legal Education, National Law School of India University, Bangalore and Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy Training, Trivandrum is jointly organizing a National Workshop on “Public Interest Protection in IPR Law and Practice”

Date: 7th – 10th April, 2013
Venue: National Law School of India University, Bangalore

After nearly a decade of several IPR laws having been put in the Indian Statute Book, how does the new legal regime impact on public interest and larger concerns raised in Parliament, TRIPS negotiations, judicial opinions and administrative bodies? Do we need changes in the way IPR law is taught, practiced, interpreted and administered so as to protect human rights of weaker sections and to promote national interests?

This workshop will address issues involved in the ongoing debate based on empirical evidence and best practices.

Who should attend?
The workshop is open to 30 selected participants and 10 invited Resource Persons. It is part of the continuing legal education programmes for lawyers and law teachers organized under the auspices of lEA Chair and MILAT. Therefore, teachers of IPR in law schools, advocates practicing IPR laws and administrators involved in IPR in Government are eligible to apply.

The sponsors will take care of boarding, lodging and other organizational expenses. There is no registration fee either. The cost is subsidized with a Ford Foundation grant to NLSIU.

Deadline:
Apply before 15th March, 2013 in the form prescribed (see the lBA-CLE website at www.nls.ac.in) and send applications by e-mail to Asst. Programme Co-ordinator, IBA-CLE Chair (iba-cle@nls.ac.in).

Applicants will be informed of selection by 25th March and are expected to confirm participation by 30th March, 2013.
