Established in 2009, Saveetha School of Law is committed to imparting quality legal education through excellence in teaching, research, and professional training. About the Competition
Under the theme “Draft With Purpose. Argue For Liberty,” the Bail Application Drafting Competition seeks to enhance legal drafting and analytical skills among law students, encourage practical understanding of criminal procedure and bail jurisprudence, and promote research, legal reasoning, and professional drafting standards.
About the Competition Structure
- A factual criminal law proposition will be released to all participants on the date of the competition.
- Participants must draft a Regular Bail Application or an Anticipatory Bail Application, as specified in the proposition.
- The draft must include: cause title, relevant provisions of law, facts of the case, grounds for bail, prayer clause, and verification (if applicable).
- Maximum length: 5 pages, excluding the cover page.
- The document must not contain any mark of identification except the participant’s registration details where instructed.
- Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Eligibility
- The competition is open to students pursuing the 3-Year LL.B. Course or the 5-Year Integrated Law Course from any recognized law college/university.
- Participation is individual only.
Mode of Competition
The competition shall be conducted online. Participants must ensure stable internet connectivity and timely submission.

Submission Guidelines
- The draft must maintain proper margins and formatting throughout.
- Submissions must be original; plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited.
- Use of AI-generated content without proper modification and understanding is discouraged.
- Any submission found copied from online sources, books, or other participants will lead to immediate disqualification.
- The organizing committee’s decision on plagiarism is final.

- Legal Reasoning & Arguments – 25 marks
- Drafting Skills & Structure – 20 marks
- Clarity, Language & Professionalism – 15 marks
- Originality & Research – 15 marks

Certificate Policy
E-certificates will be provided to all participants who submit valid entries, as well as to winners and merit holders. Certificates will be sent to the registered email address.
Rules of Conduct
- Participants must maintain professionalism and academic integrity throughout the competition.
- Any attempt to contact judges regarding evaluation will result in disqualification.
- Misconduct, unfair means, or violation of rules may lead to cancellation of participation.
Judging
Submissions will be evaluated by legal academicians, advocates, or subject experts. The decision of the judges and organizing committee is final and binding.
