Juris Publica is a student-driven legal platform dedicated to fostering legal awareness, academic engagement, and critical analysis of contemporary legal developments. Through publications, discussions, and events, Juris Publica seeks to create a space for informed legal discourse among students and young professionals.
About the Competition
Juris Publica is pleased to announce the Contemporary Legal Debates Essay Competition 2026, a national-level initiative aimed at encouraging critical engagement with the constitutional, social, technological, humanitarian, and environmental issues shaping the modern legal landscape.
The competition seeks to provide a platform for students to examine pressing contemporary legal debates and contribute meaningful perspectives on issues that influence both national and global legal consciousness.
Eligibility
- Open to students from all disciplines.
- Participants from recognised schools, colleges, and universities may apply.
- Individual as well as co-authored submissions are permitted.
Essay Themes
Participants may choose any one of the following topics:
- Recognition Beyond Symbolism: The Future of LGBTQIA+ Rights in India
- Can India Afford Sustainable Development, or Has Climate Consciousness Become an Elite Privilege?
- Can Consent Exist Within Economic Vulnerability? Rethinking the Legal Understanding of Sex Work
- The Gig Economy and Informal Child Labour: Has the Law Failed to Evolve?
- Collateral Damage or Legal Failure? Examining Civilian Child Casualties in Modern Warfare

- Word Limit: 1500–2000 words
- Co-authorship: Maximum two authors
- Citation Style: Any uniform citation style
- AI Usage Limit: 15%
- Plagiarism Limit: 15%
- Submission Format: PDF only
