Internship Opportunity at the Ministry of Law & Justice, New Delhi (2026)
The Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India, has invited applications for its Internship Programme 2026. This internship is aimed at giving law students and recent graduates practical exposure to the functioning of the Government’s legal machinery and policy-making process.
🔹 About the Internship
Interns will work closely with different divisions of the Department of Legal Affairs and gain experience in:
• Legal research and drafting
• Constitutional and administrative law
• Arbitration and contract law
• Economic and labour law
• Government litigation and legal advisory work
• Court functioning and policy-related legal work
🔹 Eligibility
Applications are open to:
• Students who have completed the 2nd year of a 3-year LL.B. course
• Students who have completed the 3rd year of a 5-year integrated law course
• Law graduates from recognised institutions
🔹 Duration & Mode
• Duration: 1 month
• Mode: Full-time and physical/offline
• Internship begins from the first working day of every month
🔹 Location
Selected interns may be posted at:
• Main Secretariat, New Delhi
• Central Agency Section, Supreme Court of India
• Litigation HC Section, Delhi
• Branch secretariats in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru
🔹 Stipend
Interns will receive an honorarium of ₹5,000 upon successful completion of the internship.
🔹 Important Conditions
• The internship is strictly full-time
• Minimum 90% attendance is required
• Interns must submit research work and a monthly report
• Certificates will be awarded upon satisfactory completion
