Mumbai, March 28, 2026: Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai (MNLU Mumbai) held its Fourth Convocation Ceremony on Saturday at the historic Ravindra Natya Mandir, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic journey. The ceremony was conducted with grandeur and reflected the university’s continued commitment to excellence in legal education.

The event commenced with the National Anthem, setting a solemn and dignified tone. Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey presented the university’s annual report, outlining key achievements in academics, research, and institutional growth, as well as expanding national and international collaborations.

Justice Alok Aradhe, Chancellor of MNLU Mumbai and Judge of the Supreme Court of India, presided over the ceremony and delivered the convocation address. Emphasizing constitutional morality, he urged graduates to uphold values of integrity, empathy, and ethical responsibility. Drawing upon the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, he highlighted that the legal profession is not merely a career but a commitment to justice and society.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of several eminent dignitaries from the judiciary, academia, and the legal fraternity, underlining the institutional stature of MNLU Mumbai.

A total of 255 students were conferred degrees during the ceremony. This included 3 PhD scholars, 133 postgraduate students from various programmes, and 119 students from the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme. The conferral of degrees marked the culmination of years of rigorous academic training, mooting, and legal research.

Medals were awarded to meritorious students, with the top three performers in each programme being recognised for their academic excellence and contributions to the university’s ethos. The announcement of each graduate’s name was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience, reflecting a shared sense of pride and achievement.

Beyond the ceremonial significance, the convocation underscored the evolving role of legal education in India. Speakers highlighted that education extends beyond classroom learning, equipping students with critical thinking skills and practical insights essential for the legal profession.
