Essay Writing Competition 2025 by CBL, NUSRL — Call for Submissions ✍️

The Centre for Business Laws (CBL) at NUSRL is inviting entries for its 2025 Essay Writing Competition. This opportunity is open to undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students from any recognised university.

Theme & Topics

Main Theme: Contemporary Developments in Corporate and Commercial Law

Indicative Sub-themes (participants may also explore related contemporary topics):

  • Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Private Equity and Venture Capital
  • Global Competition Law and Antitrust Regimes
  • Cross-Border Insolvency and Restructuring
  • International Capital Markets
  • International Banking and Finance Laws
  • Cross-Border Investment and Trade Laws
  • Cross-Border Commercial Dispute Resolution
  • ESG Compliance in Corporate Law

Submission Guidelines

  • Word limit: 1500–2000 words (excluding footnotes)
  • Co-authorship allowed (maximum two authors)
  • Essays must be original, unpublished, and non-plagiarised (similarity below 15%)
  • Formatting: Times New Roman, 12 size, 1.5 spacing; footnotes in OSCOLA 4th edition, Times New Roman 10 size, single spacing
  • No endnotes or descriptive footnotes
  • Use of AI tools in drafting is strictly prohibited.
  • Submit both PDF and editable DOCX versions

Fees

  • Single author: ₹250
  • Co-authorship (two authors): ₹400

Prizes & Certificates

  • Winner: ₹5,000 + Certificate of Merit
  • First Runner-up: ₹3,000 + Certificate of Merit
  • Second Runner-up: ₹2,000 + Certificate of Merit
  • All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation
