Reliance Industries Limited presents 5th Government Law College International Law Summit

It gives us great pleasure to present  the 5th Government Law College International Law Summit, organized by the Students for the Promotion of International Law (SPIL), Government Law College, Mumbai.

 

Students for the Promotion of International Law (SPIL) has endeavored for the past four years to promote the scarcely known but important discipline of International Law among the students and legal fraternity alike through its flagship event called the “International Law Summit”.  Ergo in line with the past tradition, from 31st January to 2nd February, SPIL will be hosting the “5th Government Law College International Law Summit” on the topic of International Investment Law. The event this year being sponsored and presented by corporate giant Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), which itself has been involved in multi-facetious off-shore investments into many foreign holdings.

 

The Summit is a three day event which comprises of interactive sessions, seminars, discussions and competitions. The International Law Summit provides a great platform for students to widen their horizons and also provides an opportunity to interact and socialize with our esteemed guests and students from all over the country and the world as the Summit has enjoyed participation from law colleges spanning across India, SAARC countries and this time it will feature students from colleges in the West.  SPIL therefore would like your college to participate in the Summit and grace the occasion in capacity of Delegates.

 

 

The schedule for the event and brief details of the same are given below to give an idea to those who wish to participate in the Summit:

 

 

DAY 1:

The 5th International Law Summit is span over a period of three days with the first day beginning with the Principal’s address, followed by the unveiling of the Souvenir, Keynote address followed by seminars by partners of leading Indian Law firms.

 

DAY 2:

Second day of the Summit is scheduled to take place at the office premises of Nishith Desai Associates  at Bandra-Kurla Complex featured by a Keynote address  by Mr. Toby Landau, QC, Essex Court Chambers, United Kingdom   and an interview session of the Secretary General – ICSID (International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes), Ms. Meg Kinnear. The Second Day will be concluded by seminar on the topic “India and its Bilateral Investment Treaty Regime” conducted by Mr. Vyapak Desai, Partner, Nishith Desai Associates and Paper Presentation by Mr. Alexandre Genest, PhD Scholar and part-time Professor, Ottawa University, Canada.

Day 3:  

The last day of the Summit is featured with the Panel Discussion on Foreign Direct Investment with the following eminent personalities as panelists:

  2. Mr. Ashish Chauhan, CEO & MD, Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd.
  3. Mr. Manjeet Kriplani, Founder Gateway House and Former India Bureau Chief- Businessweek Magazine
  4. Mr. Pramod Rao, General Counsel, Citi Bank 
  5. Mr. Naveen Raju, In-house Counsel, Reliance Industries Limited
  6. Mr. Rahul Dhonde, Associate, Levy Hoffman Kohler, Germany

 

And the Final rounds of the ‘Judgment Deliberation Competition’ and ‘Treaty Appreciation Competition’ within the students from India and abroad will mark the end of the Summit.
