Mumbai 27.02.2017 | The Maharashtra Government in 2014 established the first National Law University in Maharashtra, at Mumbai, with the objectives to garner a centre of excellence in legal education, skills and research and to evolve as an international centre of legal scholarship and practice.
MNLU Mumbai for the first two years found space at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. However, due to space constraints and lack of hostel facilities, the University is shifting with full bag and baggage to Powai, till its own campus is developed in the land allocated by the Government of Maharashtra, at Gorai, Uttan.
With this, MNLU Mumbai will be a fully residential University, situated at the new, prestigious premises (CETTM) in Powai from the next academic year, commencing July 2017, for next three years or till such time it moves to its permanent campus at Gorai. CETTM is situated at technology street, Hiranandani Gardens near LH Hiranandani Hospital. IIT Bombay and Powai lake are at short walking distances from the centre. The Centre’s characteristic blue domes have made it a local landmark.
The Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Mumbai is the premier law University of Maharashtra, offering Five-year integrated program in B.A. LL. B (Hons.) through CLAT. With this premium infrastructure the cry for the permanent space seems pacified for a while, but, till what time a full fledged Univesity can survive in a rented accomodation, only time will tell.
