Professor Kakkadan Nandanath Raj, more popularly known as K.N. Raj, passed away on 10 February 2010. Professor Raj was an inspiring teacher, a demanding supervisor and a brilliant economist. Above all, he was a builder of institutions and a visionary who knew that a growing Indian economy needed well-trained economists. Professor Raj was also very much concerned with improving the quality of teaching and research in economics in Kerala and elsewhere in the country. In order to commemorate his life and contributions to the larger community, CDS is privileged to have launched a series of fellowship schemes on the basis of a generous grant made available to it by the Kerala State Government.
