ABOUT:

UTTAR PRADESH CHHATRA SANSAD (UPCS) Uttar Pradesh tops the chart in most densely populated state in India with being home to most of its youth population. The state has always played the critical role in Indian Politics. Uttar Pradesh was the centre stage of most of the nationalist activities. From pre-independence struggle till India establishing itself as a democratic republic nation, the state has always played a pivotal role. Participation of India’s youth has been commendable in this regard. Uttar Pradesh Chhatra Sansad (UPCS) is a platform for the youth of the country to raise their concern on contemporary issues, make deliberate efforts to bring the change and explore their leadership potentials. The idea is to mobilize youth at a larger level to engross state centric issues and debates for the larger interest of the nation. The UPCS is initiated with the aim to encourage the youth to embrace to public life, thereby strengthening the democratic fabric of the nation, serving as an immediate platform. This will assist to establish a movement of thoughts and ideas amongst the youth. UPCS aims to raise the sensitivity, awareness, involvement and responsiveness that is developing in the healthy democratic system. As a new initiative, UPCS in its very first time, has planned to organise AASHULEKH’16 an All India Essay Competition which aims to spread awareness amongst students across country about the prominent issues. There is an urgent need of awareness in some of the emerging issues by way of formalizing and implementing different robust policies. UPSC understand the importance of Youth in motivating the India’s growth and encourages the same youth to come forward to prove that importance to the nation.

TOPIC: INDIA AS AN EMERGING POWER

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1. The word limit is 1500-2000 words including endnotes. Footnotes are allowed but word limit doesn’t include footnotes.

2. Participant may submit essay in Hindi or English language. One participant can participate only in one language.

3. The font style for English will be Times New Roman and the font size will be 12. The footnotes used should be in Times New Roman, size 10.

4. The font style for Hindi will be Kruti Dev 010 and the font size will be 14. The footnotes used should be in Kruti Dev 010, size 12.

5. Send Dot doc (.doc) copy and Dot pdf (.pdf) copy both.

6. Please note that only the original submissions are invited and any instance of plagiarism will lead to immediate disqualification.

7. Please do not submit entries which have been published elsewhere.

8. Co-authorship is not allowed.

9. Participants are required to submit the following details along with their entry (as an annexure to the essay):

Kindly attach scanned image of your College ID card with the mail

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:

DEADLINE:

Only one essay is allowed per participant. Completed entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM EST on November 30, 2016.

PRIZES:

Best three prizes as essays as decided by a board of jury will be awarded certificates of merit, mementos with cash prizes of Rs.2500/-, Rs.1500/- and Rs.1000/- respectively for 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners subject to presentation. Certificates will be given to top 20 essays decided by the jury.

All the top three essays to be published on the site of Uttar Pradesh Chhatra Sansad.
