Call for Papers: Christ University’s National Conference on Constitutional Appointments [Jan 9-10]; (by Aug 20)

Appointments to various offices under the Constitution of India have been subject to debate over the years from the time the Constitution of India was adopted. The separation of powers incorporated under Constitution of India assigns equal powers to all organs of the government.

The civil society, jurists and the judiciary have criticised the manner in which they discharge their discretionary powers, while the Executive has tried to argue the absence of ultra-vires as their defense.

Thus, there has arisen an ocean of lacunae which has arisen from the constitutional provisions in the three quarters of governance in India, which needs to be clearly resolved through definitive determination, resulting in the preservation of the Nation’s constitutional framework.

In this National Conference on Constitutional Appointments: Vignettes and Vicissitudes, we invite research papers, case studies and book reviews to venture into the various facets in the light of the following sub-themes:

 Judicial Appointments: Retrospect and Prospect
 Appointment of Governors: Implications for Federalism
